St. Merryn Primary School Swimming Week

This September saw the 16 top swimmers of St Merryn primary school come surfing everyday with Waves Surf School at Harlyn bay as part of a new innovative scheme incorporating surfing and swimming, featured in the Cornish Guardian. The week was a great success and all the students improved considerably and decided this had been the best week of school ever!! Well done all you budding surfers, keep practicing those pop up's on your bedroom floor and we'll look forward to doing it all again in May 2010. What a great fun week and a great incentive for the swimmers this term to practice their swimming so they can join us in May aswell. Well done everyone.

Ripples is launched

Our new Ripples club started in September with great attendance from the local 6-9 year olds.
Although we have finished for 2009 the club will resume from May 2010. We look forward to seeing you all again in may and keep practising those pop up's!

Waves 2009 Staff function

Its that time of year again for the waves crew to hang up their wetsuits, chefs pants and aprons and take time out for our annual staff function. This year we're off paintballing at Big Dunks then back to the Harlyn for a well earned pint. Looking forward to it...see you there everyone.

Surf Lessons for Duke of Edinburgh

24 Slovenian Duke of Edinburgh students in association with Truro school came surfing with us at Constantine & Boobys bay and wowed us with 100% standup success rate within the first 30mins of entering the sea. 1hr later we were witnessing some sick take offs and green wave trimming. The amazing thing is that only of them have been in the sea before! The sun was shining, the waves were small and clean and a great session was had by all. Welldone.
